About Hyuro, Tamara and public space

Polinizados x Hyuro

Valencia, Spain 2021

I had the honour of meeting Tamara a few years ago, and since then our conversations have turned around two main themes: her children and how important they were in her life and in her work; and on the other hand, the sincerity and commitment necessary to paint in the street.

Beyond the sensationalism and the desire to please everyone, she was able to empathise and dialogue with the spaces where she intervened. Explaining the most complex problems in the simplest way.
At a time when murals have generally become works of decoration and speculation, it makes more sense than ever to remember her work and her philosophy. To ask ourselves again why we paint and what we want to achieve with the imposition of large format images in public space.

I will never be able to thank you for trusting my work so much and giving me so many opportunities. Unfortunately I don't have enough talent to make a work worthy of your memory, but there you have my small gift in gratitude for everything.

It has been an honour to be part of such a special project with such good friends.

Thank you Juan Canales and the UPV for making this possible.

Matança do porco

Figueiró Dos Vinhos, (Portugal)
Fazunchar 2019
organized and curated by Mistaker Maker
These days, I have had the opportunity to paint in Figueiró dos Vinhos, a small village with less than 4000 inhabitants. Two murals that are based on the tradition and history of the village. In this region, until almost the end of the last century in the months of November, December and January, the pig was slaughtered. For some time now I have been interested in the meetings of people as a reason to paint and I find it interesting to represent in this work the scene of the meeting and the context in which it takes place.
Thank you very much Lara, Duarte and Tiago for the invitation and for this incredible week in Portugal.
